4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We also do not serve third-party advertising on the Site.

We may share personal information in the following circumstances:

Service Providers. We share information with trusted vendors that perform services for us, such as payment processing, donation management, website hosting, email communications, text messaging, technical support, analytics or security support, and map or embedded-content functionality. These may include Stripe, PayPal, Givebutter, Constant Contact, Gloo, and Google, depending on the feature you use.

Internal Access. Personal information may be accessed by our workforce, authorized staff, authorized volunteers, and contractors who need the information to perform their responsibilities for Healing Los Angeles Together.

Legal and Safety Reasons. We may disclose information when we believe it is necessary to comply with law, regulation, legal process, court order, or a lawful government request, or to protect the rights, property, safety, and security of Healing Los Angeles Together, our users, donors, volunteers, or others.

Organizational Changes. If Healing Los Angeles Together undergoes a merger, restructuring, transfer of assets, or similar organizational change, information may be transferred as part of that process, subject to applicable law.

With Your Direction or Consent. We may share information if you ask us to do so or clearly consent to a specific disclosure.

5. Donations and Payment Information

When you donate through the Site, your payment may be processed by one or more third-party payment or fundraising providers, including Stripe, PayPal, and Givebutter. Those providers may collect payment information directly from you and process that information under their own terms and privacy practices.

Healing Los Angeles Together generally does not store full payment card numbers. We may receive limited transaction details such as your name, email, billing address, donation amount, donation frequency, transaction date, and transaction status so that we can manage donor records, issue confirmations, respond to donor inquiries, and maintain required records.

If you sign up for recurring donations, we will use the information necessary to administer that recurring donation program, including sending confirmation messages, reminders when required, payment failure notices, and cancellation-related communications.

6. Email, Newsletter, and Text Communications

If you subscribe to our newsletter or otherwise provide consent to receive communications, we may send you updates about our mission, programs, volunteer opportunities, events, appeals, and related organizational news.

Email Marketing. We use Constant Contact to manage email communications. Constant Contact may provide us with information such as delivery status, opens, clicks, and subscription preferences.

Text Alerts. If you opt in to receive text messages, we may use Gloo or another messaging provider to send alerts, updates, reminders, or campaign-related communications. Message frequency may vary. Message and data rates may apply depending on your carrier and plan. You may opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP if that option is offered in the program, or by contacting us using the information above. For assistance, reply HELP if that option is offered, or contact us directly.

You may unsubscribe from marketing emails by using the unsubscribe link included in those emails or by contacting us.

7. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies, pixels, local storage, and similar technologies to keep the Site functioning, remember preferences, support logins, protect security, improve user experience, and support embedded tools such as donation forms, map features, and communications tools.

Some cookies are set by us, while others may be set by third-party services that power features on the Site. For example:

– account or session features may use essential cookies;

– donation pages or widgets may involve cookies or related technologies from Stripe, PayPal, or Givebutter;

– newsletter or sign-up forms may involve Constant Contact technologies;

– text alert signup tools may involve Gloo technologies;

– embedded maps may involve Google technologies.

Because these tools are integrated into the Site, they may collect technical information about your device or browser when the relevant feature loads or is used.

8. Google Maps and Embedded Features

The Site may display map, location, or place-related content made available through Google Maps Platform or related Google services. When you interact with those features, Google may collect certain information under Google’s own terms and privacy practices.

Map and location content should be understood as third-party content provided for convenience. Healing Los Angeles Together is not responsible for the independent privacy or data practices of Google or other third-party embedded services.

9. Calendar Subscriptions and Event Tools

If you subscribe to our calendar, add events to your calendar, or use event reminder features, your calendar provider or event service may collect information such as your email address, account information, IP address, device information, or usage information according to its own privacy practices.

We may retain records related to your subscription, attendance, or event preferences where needed for administration, communications, or follow-up.

10. Your Choices and Rights

You may have choices about how your information is used.

Account Information. If you have an account on the Site, you may be able to review or update some account information directly through your account settings. You may also contact us to request corrections or updates.

Marketing Emails. You may opt out of marketing emails by clicking the unsubscribe link in the message or contacting us.

Text Alerts. You may opt out of text alerts using the opt-out instructions provided in the message or by contacting us.

Cookies. Most browsers allow you to control cookies through browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect how parts of the Site function.

Donation Preferences. If you have questions about a donation, recurring gift, or donor record, contact us using the information listed in this Privacy Policy.

11. Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting. Because there is not a single uniform industry standard for responding to Do Not Track signals, the Site may not respond to every such signal in the same way across browsers or devices. You can still manage cookies and related technologies through your browser settings and available tool-level controls.

12. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to:

– provide requested services;

– maintain donor, volunteer, account, and communication records;

– comply with legal, tax, accounting, audit, and reporting obligations;

– resolve disputes;

– enforce our agreements; and

– protect the security and integrity of the Site and our operations.

Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and the reason it was collected.

13. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. However, no website, database, internet transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You provide information at your own risk.

If you believe your interaction with us is no longer secure, please contact us promptly.

14. Children’s Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13 through the Site without appropriate authorization where required. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the Site, please contact us so that we can take appropriate action.

If volunteer opportunities or event participation involve minors, additional consent or authorization requirements may apply.

15. External Links and Third-Party Services

The Site may contain links to external websites, donor portals, event pages, calendar tools, or other third-party services. This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party sites or services that we do not control. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing personal information.

16. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date above and, where required, provide additional notice that a material change has been made. Your continued use of the Site after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective means you accept the revised policy to the extent permitted by law.
