About Me:

Herminia Galvez: Transforming Pain into Purpose
Herminia Galvez is the founder of Healing Los Angeles Together Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to uplifting individuals and families facing systemic barriers. Born and raised in South Los Angeles, she is a mother of two children, a dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor, and a student actively working toward her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.
A Journey of Resilience and Faith Herminia’s path is defined by her profound resilience and unwavering faith. By the grace of God, she has achieved 15 years of sobriety and freedom after spending nearly a decade in and out of the system, battling addiction and grief. She has personally overcome homelessness, mental health challenges, and incarceration.
Her family also struggled deeply to obtain critical services for grief, addiction, mental health, immigration, and housing. In 2017, tragedy struck when Herminia tragically lost her mother—a victim to the streets of Los Angeles. Knowing firsthand the pain and tears her family endured, Herminia transformed her grief into a passion for helping other Angelenos, ensuring no one has to suffer alone.
A Lifelong Advocate From an early age, Herminia found her voice through community action.
- Early Inspiration: Inspired by a teacher at age 16 to speak up, she has advocated for the youth and her community on and off ever since.
- Grassroots Experience: Her extensive background includes work as a community organizer, canvasser, and phone banker, always with a heart for those society overlooks.
- Ministry Leadership: Demonstrating her devotion to serving others, she is currently an Outreach Leader for Kingdom Disciples International Ministry, providing services to the homeless and the lost.
Healing Los Angeles Together Inc.
The Vision (2003–2010) The journey of Healing Los Angeles Together was ignited by a divine calling spanning from 2003 to 2010. During this time, Herminia and her family faced immense challenges, lacking essential resources for housing, mental health support, addiction treatment, and navigating the justice system. Inspired by the Lord and fueled by these personal trials, the vision to make a tangible difference in the community was born.
Humble Beginnings (2019) In 2019, the organization started simply: cooking homemade meals and distributing them to the homeless population in and around South-Central Los Angeles. This act of providing food quickly evolved. The mission expanded to include sharing the love of God by:
- Distributing essential items like blankets, socks, and beanies.
- Providing Bibles containing heartfelt verses.
- Offering dedicated prayers for the people they served.
Filling the Gaps Today Through her personal journey and professional work, Herminia witnessed critical gaps in resources for individuals navigating reentry, addiction, and grief. Today, Healing Los Angeles Together Inc. continues to grow to meet these long-standing community needs.
- Expanded Services: The organization has introduced crucial services, including Substance Use Disorder (SUD) counseling, education, and housing support.
- Compassionate Care: The non-profit is fiercely committed to closing service gaps by uplifting staff and counselors with lived experience, ensuring compassionate, community-rooted, and faith-driven care for every person they serve.
Through outreach, advocacy, and direct service, Herminia envisions a future where no one is left behind, empowering individuals on their journey to healing with the resources, care, and hope they deserve.
